My family's summer trip that I'll somehow survive

My family normally takes 2 weeks every summer, generally in August, to travel to Vermont; at least that's how it used to go. It was usually 11 hours of being stuck in a car. I've recently learned that the 11-hour trips were mostly because my parents left later than they intended these days. With my older siblings off with their own lives, I am unofficially designated the person they take on vacation. I honestly thought I'd have more of a life of my own. By that I mean not spending so much time with my folks. Not that's a bad thing; it's just not what I expected on this trip. We got up at 3:00 a.m. to get on the road so that my mother could indulge her mild obsession. For Portuguese muffins, we get them at a place in Fall River, Massachusetts. Tell Tony's muffins, and I have to say the muffins aren't half bad, although I will never be as dedicated to getting these as my mother is. I recommend that anyone traveling anywhere in Massachusetts take the time to check out this bakery. The only impressive thing I've found at this bakery is the muffins, which I recommend you buy if you get a chance.

I recently learned that my mother's love for this place is tied to the fact that her grandparents and two aunts used to live here. So, she has the same attachment to this place that I have to Vermont. What I mean is that she gets the same nostalgia from this place that I experienced when visiting Vermont. Another place I'd like to recommend to you all is the coop. It's located in Cotuit, Massachusetts, in the town of Barnstable. It reminds me of a general store from the Old West.

I know that's probably not the impression they were going for, but it reminds me of a place like this: a small market where you can pick up whatever food items you need. Another cool thing is that it serves several different types of food, including sandwiches. They also have a menu that lists the things they have daily. This place is great for people who don't cook often. Another impressive thing is that you can get any kind. They can make it. The prices aren't too bad either. Another impressive thing is the portion sizes they offer for pretty much anything they make. If you're planning a trip to Cape Cod, I recommend you and whoever you're with check it out.
